Empowering Relationships Workshops
Understanding Domestic Abuse

WORKSHOP INFORMATION:

Our interactive workshop, led by experienced facilitators and supported by a safe and inclusive learning environment, encourages open dialogue and reflection, empowering pupils to understand domestic abuse dynamics and equip themselves with the knowledge and skills needed to recognise, respond to, and prevent abuse.

It will also allow them to explore and challenge misconceptions around domestic abuse, and reflect on power dynamics, societal norms, and cultural influences through engaging conversations, case studies, and practical exercises.

TARGET AUDIENCE:
Year 10 – 13

TOPICS covered:

  • Introduction to the Domestic Act 2021
  • Recognising different forms of domestic abuse
  • The lived Reality for Victim Survivors
  • ‘So-called’ honour-based abuse
  • Responding to concerns
  • Communication, consent, and mutual respect within relationships

WORKSHOP OPTIONS:

  • 1 hour assembly style sessions delivering to each year group from Year 10 – Year 13.
  • 1 hour classroom based workshops, delivered across the school day to identified pupil groups.
  • 2 hour classroom based workshops, delivered across the school day to identified pupil groups. (Note: This model is often used on an ‘ambassador’ basis, where those in attendance in the workshop, cascade to wider peer groups across school)
