Academic background: BA (Hons) in Geography and Social Science from the University of Sussex; Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Secondary Geography) from the Institute of Education, University of Sussex.
Leo is an experienced Senior Leader within the secondary education sector with a career covering 25 years. During this time, Leo has been an Assistant Headteacher for over 10 years overseeing the following areas of strategic leadership: Designated Safeguarding Lead, SEND & Inclusion, Pastoral leadership and external relationships. Prior to this, Leo held a number of roles including SENDCo and Head of Year.
Leo has a range of safeguarding, pastoral and SEND experience, including working in a Pupil Referral Unit in the London Borough of Camden for three years. His continuing professional development has enriched his abilities as a reflective practitioner, team worker and leader. He has participated in a range of intensive development courses including: ‘Aspiring Senior Leaders’ at the National College; ‘Leading from the Middle’ at the Institute of Education; a yearlong National Programme for Specialist Leaders in Behaviour and Attendance; and a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation.
Leo is passionate about environmental geography and issues of sustainability. He loves the big outdoors, including walking, climbing and wild camping.
